What is a Passive House?

A Passive House is an ultra-low energy home that requires very little energy for heating or cooling. In fact, a Passive House is built without a standard central heating system. A Passive House is based on five criteria which are met through intelligent design and implementation: thermal bridge free design; passive certified windows; central ventilation system and heat recovery system; quality insulation and air tightness construction.

International Passive House Days

In celebration of International Passive House Days, Paul Lilley (Kingdom Builders), along with Sean Pander (The City of Vancouver), Scott Kennedy (Passive House Canada), architects Alison Holden -Pope and Lucio Picciano participated in a forum and panel discussion held at the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) in promoting the building of Passive Homes.

What does HOME mean to you?

A home is so much more than walls and a roof over your head. It can mean so many different things to different people. Your home is not so much of a place as it is a feeling. In our work, we're fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to build places people can call home.
